Programme Note
The Past Is In The Present, for orchestra, is in four movements and dedicated to the composer's late wife, Marjorie Black. In Schuller's words, "Part requiem, part jubilatio, the composition expresses a generally tranquil, reflective mood, a mixture of happy Cincinnati memories and feelings of profound loss."
