If I give a classical CD to anyone this Christmas, it will be Tamami Hbnma’s marvellous programme of John McCabe’s piano music, centred on her magnificently drawn account of ‘Tenebrae’. In the notes, McCabe is himself fulsome in his praise and she is no less brilliant in the various couplings, including his Scarlatti homage, Scrunch, which so delightfully lives up to its label. How can one resist?
